Salim Sharif

Mr. Sharif obtained a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Computing and an MBA from Birmingham City University (UK). He also holds PRINCE2 (Projects IN Controlled Environments) certification and maintains professional memberships with the Chartered Institute of Marketing (ACIM-UK) and the Chartered Management Institute (MCMI-UK).

With over 20 years of professional experience, Mr. Sharif has built a strong track record in managing multi-million-pound programmes across the United Kingdom and Europe. His expertise includes business support, strategic consultancy, enterprise and leadership development, investment readiness, impact management, research and evaluation, capacity building, stakeholder engagement and international network development. He has also contributed to promoting best practices through knowledge transfer and dissemination initiatives across various sectors.

Throughout his career, Mr. Sharif has worked with several prominent organisations and institutions, including Business Link for London, HSBC Bank UK, Social Enterprise UK and Birmingham City University, where he lectured in research methods and project management. His professional background combines commercial, academic and international development experience, enabling him to bridge strategic vision with practical implementation.

Mr. Sharif possesses extensive international experience within the UK social enterprise and inclusive economic development sectors. He has collaborated with government bodies, private sector organisations, universities and research institutions from Canada, Jamaica, Brazil, Turkey, China, Japan, South Korea, European Union member states and the Middle East. His work has focused on strengthening institutional capacity, supporting entrepreneurship ecosystems, promoting sustainable business practices and facilitating international cooperation.

As the Director General (EU & Global) of the EBFCI, Mr. Sharif oversees the organisation’s international operations and strategic development across Europe and other global regions. Working closely with EBFCI’s Country Directors and international representatives, he leads global business strategy, international partnerships and cross-border initiatives. Mr. Sharif is committed to strengthening economic bridges between Bangladesh, Europe and global markets through innovation, entrepreneurship, skill development, sustainable enterprise development and international collaboration, with a focus on start-ups, SMEs, social impact, digital transformation and inclusive economic participation.

He envisages a future where economic growth is driven by innovation, effective business support systems, responsible investment and sustainable development practices.
